Simple Chicken Biriyani

Chicken biryani is a delicious and aromatic Indian dish that combines tender pieces of chicken with fragrant rice and a blend of spices. It’s a flavorful one-pot meal that’s loved by many for its rich taste and is often enjoyed during special occasions or as a hearty meal.

This is one of my favourite always used to prepare for all beloved in my family during special accasions like birthday celebrations and so on.

the tenderness of chicken plays major role to drive perfect taste of biriyani.

we always use Jeeraga Sambha rice to prepare the biriyani. It adds more taste to the biriyani. In this recipe i have not used pudhina/ mint leaves.But it tastes really good. Try it and let me know how it came out for you guys.

Lets start the preperation with no more delay.

Simple Chicken Biriyani

Equipment

  • 1 Pressure Cooker
  • 1 Spatula

Ingredients

  • Jeeraga Samba Rice – 2 cups
  • Water – 3 ½ cups
  • Chicken – ½ kg
  • Onion – 1 large size thinly sliced
  • Tomato – 2 medium finely chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 cup
  • Chilli Powder – 1 tbsp
  • Biriyani Powder – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Salt – as required / 1 tbsp
  • Black Pepper – 1 tbsp
  • Corriander Leaves – Bunch / Handful
  • Ghee – 50 grams

Instructions

  • Place the pressure cooker and preheat it.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in the pressure cooker.
  • Add the finely chopped 1 large sized onion and sauté until they turns pale.
  • Add the 2 medium sized chopped tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes soften.
  • Add 1 tbsp of salt or required amount of salt to the tomato so that it can be smashed well.
  • Allow it to smash well.
  • Add the 1 cup of ginger garlic paste to the content and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
  • Add the ½ kg chicken pieces and cook for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Cook until it turns white.
  • Sprinkle 1 tbsp of red chilli powder and saute it for 5 minutes.
  • Now add 1 ½ tbsp of biriyani powder to the mixture and saute for 5 more minutes until raw smell goes.
  • Later add 1 tbsp of black pepper atlast and mix well for few minutes.
  • Saute it for a minute well until spices mixes well.
  • now add 2 cup of Jeeraga Samba rice.
  • Mix the rice with other sipces for few minutes.
  • At thi stage add 3 ½ cups of water.
  • Sprinkle hand full of the chopped coriander leaves over the chicken.
  • Allow it to boil for 5 minutes.
  • Add the 50 grams of ghee at this stage.
  • Close the lid and put whistle and pressure cook for 20 minutes or allow it to release 4 whistle.
  • Turn off the flame.
  • Wait until Pressure cooker release steam and then open.
  • Serve your delicious Chicken Biryani hot with raita (yogurt side dish) or salad. Enjoy!
